During the last 4 days I have been working at the National Air Traffic Service (NATS) based at Whiteley within the corporate communications team. I was beyond excited when I got in contact with them to come and join the team for the week.
If you didn't know already, NATS is an aviation company based in the south of England across Whiteley and Swanick which operates the UK's airspace and helps provide answers to the critical issues faced by the aviation industry around the world – such as cost-efficiency, environment and data use (Taken from NATS Website). They control planes from many airports including Heathrow and Southampton.
When I first arrived on Monday morning, I didn't know how much confidence and self learning I was about to grow through the next 4 days. Throughout my time, I was involved in many jobs from participating in meetings to getting involved in future projects to analysing and creating ideas for the movement of NATS social media pages.
My favourite part of the work placement was helping create Wordswags and video clips for the NATS Social Media Pages to help promote their stand for RIAT (The Royal International Air Tattoo) this weekend!
I met lots of different people including the different teams that work in Media, Marketing and Communications within the company. They spoke to me about their roles and taught me alot about the aviation industry. It's interesting to see how much really goes into getting a plane from one airport to another and what keeps our Airspace safe.
I also got a sneak peak into a future Aviation brand being put together by one of the team members which I'm really excited to talk to you all about once it's released!
Overall, I have really enjoyed my 4 days I had with NATS and it's helped me decide where abouts I would like to try and get my career to pursue once I've finished university. I would like to give a massive thank you to Matt Mackinnon and Emma Parry for their help and support throughout the week, it was fantastic to work with you both!
